When you subscribe to The Next Chapter

We collect your email address and any reading preferences you voluntarily select. We also record information needed to manage the subscription, such as when and where you subscribed, the version of the consent notice shown, and whether your subscription is active.

We use this information to send the romance-reading emails you requested, including reading recommendations, new guides, and occasional news about books we publish. Your selected preferences help us avoid sending you genres you’re not interested in.

Joining the newsletter is optional. You can use the reading-preference tool without subscribing.

When you contact us

We collect the information you put in the contact form: your email address, optional name, message topic, and message. We use it to understand and respond to your inquiry, handle corrections, and address rights or privacy requests.

Please don’t send payment information, sensitive personal information, confidential manuscripts, or private details about other people through our contact form.

When you build a reading brief

Your answers to the on-page reading-preference questions are used to compose the brief you see. You do not need to provide your email address to use this tool. At launch, the brief is generated in your browser; we do not receive the individual answers simply because you click through the options. If you separately choose newsletter-interest tags during signup, those selected interests are saved with your subscription.

Like most websites, our hosting and security systems may process technical details needed to deliver pages and keep the site functioning. These can include IP address, browser and device information, requested URLs, timestamps, referral information, and error or security logs.

We may use privacy-conscious, aggregate site measurement to understand which pages work well. We do not launch with behavioral advertising pixels or retargeting profiles. If our analytics or cookie practices change, we will update this policy and provide choices where required.

We use personal information to:

• Send newsletters you asked to receive and keep a record of your preferences and consent.
• Reply to questions, book suggestions, editorial corrections, and privacy requests.
• Operate the website, prevent spam and abuse, and investigate technical problems.

We do not add you to the newsletter merely because you sent us a contact message.

We use third-party providers for website hosting, email delivery, and security. Our website is intended to be hosted through Replit at launch. Our newsletter service is Resend. Those providers process the information necessary to perform their services, subject to their terms and privacy practices.

We may disclose limited information when required by law, to protect rights or security, or in connection with a lawful change in the ownership of the business. We do not make our subscriber list public.

At launch, we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Our technical configuration must match this statement; if that changes, this notice and any legally required controls will be updated before the change takes effect.

Some essential technologies may be used to provide security, prevent abuse, or remember necessary interface state. At launch, we do not use cookies to serve personalized ads across other websites.

If optional analytics or advertising tools that require consent are added later, we will explain what they do and provide appropriate choices before using them where required.

Your browser may let you control or remove cookies. Blocking certain necessary features may affect parts of the site.

We keep newsletter records while your subscription is active. When you unsubscribe, we stop marketing emails and may keep limited suppression or compliance information so that your request is respected.

We keep contact correspondence only as long as reasonably necessary to handle the message, maintain appropriate business records, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. Technical and security logs are retained according to operational and provider settings, with access limited to those who need it.

We review information for deletion when it is no longer needed for these purposes.

Unsubscribe: Every marketing email will include an unsubscribe method. You can stop receiving the newsletter at any time.

Change your interests: Contact us to update your reading preferences or request that we remove them.

Ask about your data: Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask for access, correction, deletion, or other controls over your information. Privacy protections can vary by location. We will use any safeguards required by applicable law for the processing we actually conduct.

This site is designed for a general romance-reading audience, not for children under 13. We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will review the request and delete information where appropriate.

We take reasonable measures appropriate to the information we handle to protect it against unauthorized access, misuse, or loss. No website, email system, or online transmission can be guaranteed perfectly secure.

A recommendation or book link may take you to a retailer, publisher, author, or third-party website. Those services decide how they collect and use your information. Please review their own privacy notices before providing personal details or purchasing anything.

We may update this policy as our website, newsletter, technology, or legal obligations change. When a meaningful change affects how your information is handled, we’ll update the effective date and provide additional notice if required. We do not change dates simply to make a page look newly published.
